Latest Updates from Our Project:

We Are Alive!!!
about 1 year ago – Thu, Feb 02, 2023 at 11:43:21 AM

Thank you everyone for your support! We’ve poured a ton into this little world and are ecstatic to bring it to life for everyone.

A Butterfly Dies is exciting for a number of reasons, but one of the reasons is that it will be our most art heavy zine to date. We have 3x 2pg spreads, and a ton of full-page art as well. I’m excited to continue knocking out pieces during the campaign to share. I’m excited to keep creating in this style and fine-tune some of the pieces already shared so the zine is as crisp as possible.

COCOXOCA + LORE

Some details I want to share with you about COCOXOCA. The wetlands of Mexico are incredible and I want to ratchet up the lore for this pamphlet.

One incredible thing about Primal Quest is how open the world is. Diogo really did a number in the Primal Quest Essentials Rulebook adventure. There are sentient Triceratops, plenty of aliens, ancient entities, and other sentient species that live alongside humans. The whole thing informs what is possible in this unfamiliar prehistoric world.

With this ethos, COCOXOCA is going to act as a great taste of what the wetlands have to offer. The 2 Micro-dungeons will be accompanied by the Crocodile Lord, who will be written as a possible recurring NPC and a major part of the world. Plus, with new terrain means more unique encounters for those areas!! There are going to be a ton of cool encounters for this one!

Zine Month (ZIMO) + ZineQuest

A Butterfly Dies is part of ZIMO and ZineQuest this year! I love these events because there is so much creativity and creators interact a ton more. This year, I volunteered and was welcomed into a meeting with the ZIMO admin to help talk about growing ZIMO and solidifying their values on how to best serve the indie TTRPG space.

I have a ton of respect for the people organizing it all and am excited that they are leaning into their values Democratization among others, and being open to using all platforms. They are doing a lot of good work for the scene, especially with all the shared resources and education and I'm happy to have played a small role in the discussion with them.

With that said - there are a ton of projects going on and off Kickstarter and you can find the directory here. Like last year I'll be sharing a few of my favorite zines in updates and I hope it helps you find another wonderful zine!

That's it for the first update :)

Thank you again for being here! I’m ecstatic to make something wonderful for you!!
